My Poor Blog Is Under Utilised

December 10th, 2007 by vidaverity

Yeap… It’s true, since I signed with friendster, I have not spend enough time with my poor lonely blog. For 2008, my resolution is to rectify this problem and flood my blog page with so much text till it gags. =).

Friends From The Past….Assunta

April 5th, 2007 by vidaverity

I’ve recently re-joined the Assunta alumni e-group and that got me thinking to organise a reunion (have been thinking about it for qite some time but just couldn’t  find the time to do it - *sheepish smile*) for all those in my year 2000 group. After all, it’s almost been 7 years since we’ve last seen each other. There is a quote that goes; Everyday we come in contact with hundreds of people, but only a few become our friends, so we should treasure these friendship(s)!

And yesterday, I met up with Sumathi (after 6 years of separation, we finally meet!) and there was so much for us to catch up on. Along the way, I’ve bumped into a few more Assuntarians and found out that some of my old school mates have gotten themselves hitched and have their own toddlers already! Ain’t that great news or what!

Today, I received a distressed (not really lar) email message  from the Assunta  e-group moderator to put up an Assunta Spirit Alive! banner on my site and send out a link to invite my fellow Assuntarians to join the network. I take this as a sign from above, that it’s time to do something (i.e. make the reunion thingy happen).

So all Assuntarians who read this, please let me know if you gals would prefer lunch or dinner or just cocktail, and when is the best time (during public holidays?) for you. Do you all want to meet in downtown KL or PJ?

Letme know kay…. and please forward this to all those you are in contact with. Xie xie and hope to see you all soon!

Life Is Full of Surprises

December 27th, 2006 by vidaverity

Everytime I think that life is mundane and just ok, it throws something into my path. This past 6 months or so have been so very crazy for me. I quit my job, planned to go to Canada, but ended up not going. Instead I visited Hong Kong. Had a marvelous time there but wished that I could see more, eat more, shop more. Then miraculously I found a job when I got back. But sales really isn’t my forte, so I resigned from that job. But in the process I have met many many new friends, got invovled in many many new things. Now I’m in a whole new company, have been here for 3 months now, and am enjoying every minute of it (almost every minute…nah…just kidding).

Events, work, the charity ball at my church, Leo has taken up most of my time for the past 2 months. But it was all good and I had a smashing time. I took up netball and futsal (that’s why if you see me now, you’ll say I look healthier and have slimmed down =)).

Christmas, as we all know, has just passed by, and things get even crazier when my youth group’s Christmas play had to happened. We did not have enough members to pull it through. So I ended up playing a wiseman. Me… a wiseman???? I know myself and I know that I’m not that wise and I definitely do not look like a man. So it was a really refreshing experience for me and my fellow members. Then a very sad news reached us on Christmas eve morning. My childhood friend’s dad passed on that very morning.

At times like these I often wonder why life treats us so cruelly. Why now? Can’t they just spend Christmas time together as a family happily? This made me realise how short our lives are. And there’s so much I want to do. And most importantly, I realised that I should always appreciate the people around me and love them more. Since New Year is coming, I’m drafting out my resolutions (of course the realistic ones only) so I won’t miss out a thing to do.

My plans for the coming year is to:

  1. Spend more time with my mum and to try to keep her happy.
  2. Find, establish contact and keep in touch with all my long lost friends from school, college, work, church, etc.
  3. Keep & bring my relationship with God to a more intimate level.
  4. Learn Italian, followed by French.
  5. Learn how to Salsa!
  6. Learn to play the bass guitar.
  7. Go whitewater rafting in Sarawak.
  8. Go for the Rainforest Musical Fest (Hopefully I have enough $$$ to do so).
  9. Scuba Diving.
  10. Sky Diving in New Zealand.
  11. And along the way, if there’s someone suitable out there, to find that someone to share my life with =)

There’s so much more things that I would like to achieve. But 1 year is a really short time to do too much. Hope that this time next year I have done all of the above.

I’ve Passed The Boiling Point of 110 Degree Celcius!!!!!

September 11th, 2006 by vidaverity

When I left office last Friday evening, I was still feeling cheery despite being stuck in traffic almost throughout the whole day. I was listening to the music played on my radio, switching stations when I became bored. The massive jam in Sunway was expected (cause it was after work) so I patiently drove through it all. When I het Federal Highway, I was feeling elated. The traffic was just fine with some pauses here and there. I heard on the radio that the there was a jam building up from Hilton PJ heading towards KL so I decided to exit at the Jalan PP Narayanan (222) intersection. Naturally, there was a long queue from Federal Highway towards that intersection, so I stayed in my queue and patiently waited for the traffic to move along. That was at 7.05pm. After 30 minutes, when the traffic was still not budging (it’s not normal for such a long wait), I decided to give my mum a call to let her know about the heavy traffic so she would not get caught in it as well.

Guess what??? She said that the traffic light was not functioning since late in the evening. And so I concluded that that must be the cause for the traffic build-up that was causing the Federal Highway to be jammed up with vehicles. So once again, I waited patiently whilst enjoying the music aired on the radio. At about 8.15pm, I’ve managed to wade my way to the traffic lights at the intersection (After more than an hour!!!!!!). I decided to make a report to JKR about the unfunctioning traffic lights and the massive jam it’s causing. When I finally got hold of the JKR contractor, his explaination was that there were manyother traffic lights that was not functioning due to the heavr rain, yadda, yadda, yadda. And the best news was, they only had two team of technicians to fix all these 6 traffic lights. He also commented that the traffic police should have sent their personales to handle the traffic. Then he asked me to stay calm and drive safely! So I just laughed it off and got back to my driving.

Next, I called the local traffic police station in Section 8 PJ, which is the nearest traffic police station (only 5minutes drive away from the scene). The officer claimed that ha has already sent his guy to monitor and control the traffic flow at the scene. I (in a very nice manner) informed him that his guys were not there at all, that is why there was such a major jam!!!!!

At this point, my patience was wearing thin. Then there was this rude Arabic malay guy who tried to take a right turn when he was parked on the farthest left lane….. He couldn’t get through and was honking at me and raising his hands and staring at me. I was inocently stuck in the middle lane, trying to go straight. I just stared back at him and signaled him to go where he wantts (as if it was possible during the jam). Many more drivers were begining to loose patience and were honking like nobody’s business. the cars were trying to move in all directions, causing more congestion. So I turned my music on to the maximum level. After (God knows how long) I got through the jam. I went to the police station to personally inform them of the major problem they have overlooked. Then only did they send their police out to monitor the traffic!!!!!

When I reached home, I was flushing from anger. Sometimes I really am embarresed by the way our local authorities work. Our government would always ignore complaints and reports until someone actually dies or a really major accident happens. And it’s not just the government, even the citizens have a laid back, ‘tidak apa’ attitude. They just don’t bother about anything or anyone. They would rather loose their temper and keep honking through the jam than to make a report about it!!! That is why (i feel) our society has never moved forward.
